things that do not go as planned
I start a project knowing there might not be enough yarn. I have a rebellious spirit observed again and again that pattern designers play loose with the estimates.
It makes perfect sense. Everyone’s gauge is different, everyone’s yarn usage is different, and designers don’t want a legion of irritable knitters knocking on their door (or email box), complaining that they ran out of yarn two inches from the end. I have a lot of sympathy for this point of view … but (being me) I hate having an extra skein of yarn at the end of a project! I want to know how much yarn I really really need, dammit!
… on the other hand …
Dammit.
